EOTD: Smokey Pink

I’m still feeling my way around the smokey eye look. In truth, I am far from mastering it. However, I still enjoy playing around and last Wednesday I went out to dinner with a friend and created this smokey pink look (unfortunately I did not photograph the cute little cat tips I rocked).

Colors: Diamanda, Coppelia (Aromaleigh) and Oil Slick (Urban Decay)

Style Inquiry: Jewelry

Are you a rings, necklaces, brooch, earrings, bracelets or jewelry-free kind of person?

Personally, I am a rings and necklace kind of girl. I never got my ears pierced and I don’t know if I ever will. Brooches are nifty but I am top heavy so my boobs don’t need any help and I just tend to forget about bracelets – even my medical ID bracelet, oops! I am always on the look out for chunky, gaudy, unique rings and dainty dangling necklaces.

Style Inquiry: Silver or Gold?

I have a Style Inquiry for my readers.

SILVER

GOLD

I used to only wear silver (as a teen) and now I only want to wear gold. I love gold so much; it’s just so bold and eye-catching. Looks great accompanied with fuchsia and cherry red, too.

Which do you prefer: Silver or Gold?

DIY Inexpensive Organization: Earring Hanger

My mother and I went to Michael’s craft/art supply store (always a dangerous place for out wallets) and my mom purchased this quilting/needlepoint mesh hoop for around $2.00. When we arrived home, she tacked it up to the wall with a lightweight scarf behind it and proceeded to hook her favorite earrings on the netting. The result? Instant, inexpensive, artsy looking earring organizer!

Review: My Recent Make Up Purchases

Over the last month I have loosened my clutches on my purse and gone on a few make up related shopping sprees. I think I am making up for lost time; I didn’t take an active interest in make up until very recently.

This ought to look very familiar to a lot of you; Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden which has a matte finish and goes on very smoothly. What I like about this particular product is that it can be used plain, almost as a concealer for dark circles under the eyes. It also keeps a nice, strong hold of my eyeshadow and is the base that gives my eyeshadow oomph for when I am going for very bold looks.

Opaque lip gloss by boutique brand Armour in Cat Club. This glorious gloss leaves a hot pink stain on my lips, perfect for all day use. I purchased this in Seattle from Belinda, the make up artist that dolled up the wedding party I was in. Picture does not do the product justice.

Lancome Dual Finish versatile powder makeup in Ecru II. Can be used as a light daytime powder foundation, a powder touch-up and a dramatic matte full coverage. I covet this beauty hard and though I haven’t had the chance to use it for the specific purpose I purchased it for (decked-out evening looks) I can see its promise when I’ve used it for light, daytime looks.

Liquid Timebalm spot concealer with tea tree oil is one of the best random purchases I have made thus far. Not only is this the absolute best concealer I’ve ever used, with 100% coverage and light application, but I can actually feel and even smell the tea tree oil, a natural antibacterial that takes care of blemishes while it conceals them.

Urban Decay Good Karma crease brush is a product that came highly recommended to me from A. of The Glamourous Grad Student. After being unable to handle the purchase of a “natural” brush (ie one made out of squirrel & sable hair) I immediately returned it and found this brush on sale via a reputable eBay wholesaler. I use this mostly for blending, and it does a pretty darn good job, blurring and blending color borders into one awesome, seemingly flawless eyeshadow design. I’d definitely continue to recommend it – and I hope to make more purchases from the Good Karma line of Urban Decay.

Summer Colors

I go through phases of wearing particular colors. This summer it has been a lot cooler and my wardrobe has consisted of pale pink, soft gray, purple and violet, black & white solids or polka-dots and topped with my cherry red with white polka-dots bathing suit.

My jewelry is all gold ~ with some white and pinks (pale to fuchsia, my favorite shade of pink!)

I’ve also had a serious surge of love for make up and perfume over the last couple of months. My favorite commercial scents are Viva la Juicy, Saint by Kat Von D and Pink Sugar Sensual.

What colors have you been wearing this summer? (Or winter if you’re down under!)

Street Style: Seattle Edition

I was in Seattle, Washington last week and between all of the wedding madness, I was able to snap a few pictures of some excellent street fashion. My first three photos were taken at the Pike’s Place Market:

Ceira – 19 – aspires to be a funeral home director

Flower & Savori – 24 & 30 – artists

Elspeth Juniper – 21 – market girl/artist

And I caught this lovely creature later that evening:

Brady – 20 – barista

If I had more battery power and time, I would have had a plethora of more samples of Seattle style to show you because trust me, this is merely a sample!

Whose look do you like best?

Cat Shoes Reincarnate

Everyone remembers my lovable TUK cat shoes, right?

Well, they officially died in Ireland and I gave them a proper Irish (rubbish bin) burial and cheered myself up with the purchase of a new pair of Mary Jane REDZ. However, there is still something missing in my sole…my inner cat lady still mourns for the loss of those black cat Mary Jane shoes that brought joy and humor to so many…As if fate was hearing my silent pain, the shoe gods parted the clouds and gave my cat shoes an official reincarnation:

Oh, yeah.
That’s right.
Dr. Marten’s OFFICIAL Hello Kitty Mary Jane Shoes.

Praise be.
