It had been a good day, but I had eaten some gnarly roti and did not think I would ever find the desire or strength to eat again. Spice was hungry, though, and, being a gracious (see: Canadian) hostess, was kind and asked her guest (me) what I felt like eating. NOTHING. EVER! was what I wanted to cry before guzzling down a bottle of TUMS, but I resisted. Knowing she kept kosher as well as no land-meat, I shrugged and said the simplest, most refreshing, non-roti thing that came to mind: “Sushi?”
Her eyes lit up and maybe it was my imagination but she seemed pleased that our minds melded to the same conclusion. Gleefully, she whipped out a take-out menu to Gobo Sushi, a place she and her husband had only ordered from once before but with stellar results.
“They deliver!” she told me.
My mind was blown. Figuratively speaking, of course, because I know the difference between figuratively and literally.
Sushi that delivers? As in, to your doorstep? Such a miraculous thing exists in North America?
See, this is the drawback to living in a region where it does not have apocalyptic weather: no sushi delivery. I would gladly trade off my arid, desert heat for some of that humid, cauldron-black storm shit to get better options when it comes to delivery.
We drooled over the inexpensive and tasty-sounding options as we waited for Zuzu to arrive. Once she does, we place our order and it arrives around 40 minutes later. I actually took the menu back home with me but for the life of me I cannot figure out where I put it, so I’m just going off of memory here, folks.

White Meat Chicken Bento

Spicy Tuna Roll + Tuna Avocado Spring Roll
I don’t know why but I get hell-bent on these tuna kicks (must be all of the mercury) and I kept going, “Oh, how about such-and-such tuna roll?” Everything tasted marvelous. There was no “fishy” smell that permeated our senses; all of the sushi tasted fresh and clean. Surprisingly enough, my favorite item ended up being the “sushi pizza” – salmon sashimi atop triangular “pizza” slices made up of crispy rice. YUM.
Gobo Sushi can be enjoyed on its own premise, but why not take advantage of one of the highest-ranked delivery sushi joints in all of Toronto and save your order for a stormy summer evening? Trust me, it’ll be worth it!
