Awards Ceremony Fantasy Outfit

Audrey Hepburn in Edith Head, hoping there’s chocolate under there.

For the last nine years, my immediate family has thrown a party for the Academy Awards. We live in Los Angeles – film is part of our day to day culture here – and some of us even aspire to be part of that BUSINESS (that’s like no business I know). When I was in fifth grade, I even drew a “when I grow up” picture ~ it was being handed the Academy Award for Best Actress (presented to me by my favorite actress at the time, Geena Davis).
YES I WAS A WEIRD CHILD.
The pre-show is part of the fun, too, because I like to gawk at all of the lovely (and not so lovely) outfits. This week I was thinking to myself, Self, if I were going to the Academy Awards, what would I wear? I also asked this question to Twitter-Land in hopes I’d see some other beautiful, creative sets.

I LOVE that corset and those Doc Martens! The tutu is extra fantabulous as well ~ the Tarino Tarantino necklace and French Court wig really give this set some FUN glam that I think is sorely missing from stuffy ceremonies. I would give anyone the best dressed award for sportin’ these digs!

I was intending on focusing on red and gold, but that dress just GRABBED me and reeled me in, so I went with my second-in-command color du jour, fuchsia. Vivienne Westwood is one of my favorite contemporary designers ~ and if I could afford those lovely accessories, I surely would adorn myself on more than just special occasions!

  1. whoa, that pink and black dress is totally fabulous! What would I wear? I’m not positive, but I know that I would pick something totally classic – “trendy” pieces often end up looking like a disastrous decision just a few years down the road.
