Star Trek Style

Beam on up and come aboard my ship, baby.

That’s right, Star Trek is this week’s Sunday Style. Why not? Star Trek recently had a resurgence with the release of the Star Trek movie that was released last spring. Die-hard, closet, and casual Trekkies alike rejoiced in a fandom that, not too long ago, was only found in niche groups and tight social circles.
I think what greatly contributed to Star Trek’s accessibility and overall acceptance into mainstream culture is the fact that it truly never went away; even though the original Star Trek only lasted three seasons (1966-1969), its success and devoted viewership launched theatrical sequels and television shows alike, including my personal favorite, Star Trek: The Next Generation. Star Trek has always been there, right on our radar, on network television, in the theaters, and has influenced our personal style whether we’ve been aware of it or not.

Star Trek style is sure to live long and prosper in the hearts of sci-fi lovin’ fashionistas everywhere. Plus, who else could make pointy-ears a fashion statement other than Spock:

QUESTION: Do you like Star Trek, and do you find that it has influenced your style in any way?

  1. I do like Star Trek!

Although I never had the time to fully devote to it growing up, I did enjoy what ST:TNG episodes I watched from time to time, and I saw every movie except for Nemesis and Insurrection (on my list!I swears!!)

STXI really made me want to go back and watch the original series, and now I am completely hooked. Before, I only really considered myself a ‘Casual Trekkie’ whereas now I will yell it from the mountain tops: I AM TREKKIE!!!

    I think I always was, I just didn’t know it. :)

  2. I’m definitely a casual Terkkie (I’m rarely more than casual in any fandom except for Batman). It’s fun to go back and watch these episodes from the eyes of an adult now. :D
